Rivers Assembly Rejects Four Nominees from Fubara

Datony Alasia, Tamuno William, Otony T.K.D. Amachre, and Chariti Deemua, primarily due to inadequate performance during the screening process.

Chariti Deemua faced intense scrutiny regarding her tax clearance, with lawmakers questioning her tax records, which were not updated since December 31, 2018. Deemua, who is a politician without formal employment, was challenged on whether politicians are exempt from paying taxes.

Additionally, nominee Tamuno William was unable to recite the second stanza of the national anthem. Complaints were also filed against nominee Otony Amachre.

Ultimately, the assembly confirmed five other nominees after the screening process, emphasizing the importance of ensuring competent individuals are appointed to deliver good governance in Rivers State.
