Senator Kingibe Reveals Wike's Office Visit Request

In an interview with Channel Television, Senator Ireti Kingibe disclosed that Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, instructed her not to visit his office. Kingibe stated she had written several letters to Wike expressing her desire to collaborate for the benefit of the FCT.

However, she reported that Wike did not consult anyone before imposing a curfew during the area council elections in the FCT. Kingibe recounted her attempts to reach Wike via telephone, which were unsuccessful until Senate President Godswill Akpabio intervened with three calls to resolve the issue.

Kingibe described a tense conversation with Wike, where he yelled at her before hanging up. She emphasized that Wike's leadership style is autocratic and shows a total disregard for the constitution, which could jeopardize her re-election bid in 2027.

Kingibe criticized President Bola Tinubu's decision to appoint Wike as a minister, calling it a significant political blunder.
