Wike's PDP Faction Challenges APC Governors on 2027 Plans

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supported by Nyesom Wike responded to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum regarding its opposition to political arrangements that could impact the PDP's plans for the 2027 elections. The APC governors had stated they would not endorse any alliance that could undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

In a statement by Jungudo Mohammed, the national publicity secretary of the Wike-backed PDP faction, it was asserted that the APC governors should concentrate on their governance and performance rather than opposing Wike’s political support for candidates. Mohammed emphasized that Wike’s backing of Tinubu did not equate to abandoning the PDP.

He criticized the APC governors for their fear of being exposed due to their poor governance records and urged them to allow electoral competition to reflect their performance. The PDP faction also mentioned ongoing efforts to resolve internal crises and prepare candidates for the upcoming elections.
