Wike Claims APC Governors Oppose Coalition Over Uzodinma's Ambition

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has alleged that his disagreement with the All Progressives Congress Governors’ Forum is linked to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State's ambition to become Senate President in 2027. Wike made these comments during an interview with TVC News, addressing the controversy surrounding the formation of the Rainbow Coalition.

The APC Governors’ Forum, led by Uzodinma, has distanced itself from the Rainbow Coalition, arguing that its activities could undermine the political ambitions of some ruling party members. Wike criticized the APC leaders as “lazy politicians” and asserted that President Bola Tinubu is aware of his political activities regarding the coalition.

He emphasized that he enjoys the President's backing, although he did not specify any direct communication with Tinubu about the coalition. This disagreement occurs as political alignments are forming ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Wike remaining a significant figure in the evolving political landscape.
