PDP Inaugurates Convention Committee Ahead of 2026 Event

On a recent date, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, inaugurated the People's Democratic Party (PDP) national convention committee, appointing former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as chairman. The committee consists of 500 members and is responsible for organizing the national convention set for March 29-30, 2026.

Wike emphasized the importance of transparency and inclusivity in the committee's work, urging members to rise above divisions and embrace reconciliation. He highlighted the party's resilience in navigating complex legal challenges and reaffirmed the need for unity to reclaim the party's rightful place in the nation's political landscape.

The committee's formation is seen as a critical step towards ensuring the PDP's legal legitimacy and credibility in the upcoming electoral processes, including the 2027 general elections. Other notable attendees at the inauguration included former national public secretary Debo Ologunagba and former national organizing secretary Batur Umar.
