Wike's Faction Accuses PDP of Sabotage Ahead of Convention

Nyesom Wike's faction within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has accused a governor-backed group led by Tanimu Turaki of plotting to sabotage the party's upcoming national convention set for March 29-30, 2026. Wike's camp asserts that the PDP's national caretaker committee, recognized by a federal high court, will proceed with the convention as planned.

They urge party members to disregard misleading claims aimed at undermining the party's stability. The faction expressed concern over attempts to halt the convention through legal means, particularly a court injunction sought by Turaki's group.

Wike's camp remains optimistic about reconciliation efforts, despite previous setbacks. The PDP has emphasized its commitment to internal democracy and the rule of law, stating that the convention will be conducted transparently and credibly.

The party's leadership has called for respect for judicial processes and has reaffirmed confidence in the judiciary as a protector of justice.
