Wike Orders Demolition of Criminal Hideout in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ordered the immediate demolition of an illegal settlement near Karmajiji in the Kukwaba District of Abuja, which is suspected to be a hideout for criminals. This directive was issued on Friday following a security meeting and an inspection of the area.

Wike stated that intelligence reports indicated the settlement served as a refuge for criminals after committing various attacks in the FCT. He expressed concerns about the inability to identify the occupants of the settlement, which he described as a "time bomb" and a serious security risk.

Wike directed the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, to collaborate with the Director of the Department of Development Control to ensure the demolition of the illegal structures. He emphasized that the government would not tolerate criminal hideouts and would take decisive action against offenders.

The demolition is part of a broader strategy to improve public safety and dismantle criminal enclaves across Abuja.
