Wike Orders Demolition of Criminal Hideout in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ordered the demolition of an illegal settlement near Karmajiji in Kukwaba District, Abuja, on Friday. This directive came after Wike led security officials on an inspection of the area following a meeting of the FCT Security Committee.

Wike described the settlement as a suspected hideout for criminals, citing intelligence reports that indicated criminals often returned to the area after committing attacks in various parts of Abuja. During the inspection, Wike expressed concerns about the anonymity of the occupants, stating, “This is a time bomb,” and emphasized that the FCT Administration would not permit criminal hideouts to exist in Abuja.

He instructed the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, to collaborate with the Department of Development Control to carry out the demolition. Wike warned that individuals using such locations for criminal activities would face severe legal consequences.

This demolition is part of ongoing efforts by the FCT Administration to improve public safety and protect residents.
