Wike Orders Demolition of Encroaching Buildings in Abuja

On Thursday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), directed the immediate demolition of around 30 buildings that were encroaching on the Right of Way along the Ring Road 3 corridor in Abuja, which connects Karsana District, Gwarinpa District, and the Kubwa axis. This directive was issued during an on-the-spot inspection tour aimed at assessing ongoing road infrastructure projects within the FCT.

Richard Dauda, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), informed Wike about the illegal structures obstructing the project. Dauda reported that foundational work on a second bridge along the route was progressing well despite challenging terrain.

Wike expressed anger over the encroachments and summoned officials from the Department of Development Control to take immediate action, stating, “We’ll have to demolish this right now.” He emphasized that no illegal developments would be permitted to obstruct public infrastructure or disrupt the Abuja Master Plan.
