Wike rejects PDP’s Ibadan convention plan

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has rejected the plan for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to hold its convention in Ibadan, stating that he will not allow injustice to prevail within the party. Wike, a key figure in the PDP's internal crisis since losing the 2022 presidential primary, emphasized the need for a zonal congress in Calabar before proceeding with the convention.

Despite the convention being scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Wike insisted that the National Executive Committee (NEC) must meet and agree on the decision. The PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, maintained that the Ibadan convention dates are fixed and dismissed speculation of a parallel convention.

Wike also addressed rumors of defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting his commitment to the PDP and the need for due process within the party.
