Wike Critiques Fubara's Early Governance Mistakes

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated that his successor as Rivers governor, Siminalayi Fubara, made significant mistakes by trying to establish his political structure too soon after taking office. Wike expressed surprise that Fubara began this endeavor within 100 days of assuming the governorship, indicating that it demonstrated a lack of respect for the political foundation that supported his rise to power.

During a media chat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike noted that he had laid a solid groundwork for Fubara to build upon, particularly in infrastructure, to help Rivers State compete with Lagos. He mentioned his initiation of the multi-billion-naira Port Harcourt Ring Road project and the construction of 12 flyovers, which were completed during his tenure.

Wike cautioned that Fubara's early missteps had widened the development gap he aimed to close between the two states.
