Wike Defends Against Kingibe's Loan Allegations in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, responded to allegations from Senator Ireti Kingibe, who claimed he secured loans for capital projects in Abuja without the National Assembly's approval. Wike dismissed her allegations, stating that Kingibe lacked a fundamental understanding of legislative and public finance processes.

He emphasized that any loan would be included in the budget and questioned how any official could bypass the legislature for such financing. Wike further criticized Kingibe's relevance in the political landscape, asserting that her tenure in the National Assembly was nearing its end and that residents were aligning with President Bola Tinubu and Philip Aduda, who previously represented the FCT.

He suggested that Kingibe's accusations arose from confusion over the rapid infrastructure development in Abuja, which she initially criticized but later seemed to acknowledge. Wike concluded by questioning the focus on the loan rather than the benefits it could bring to residents.
