Wike Declares Support for Tinubu's 2027 Re-election Bid

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is now regarded as "our brother" and that Rivers State will support his re-election bid in 2027. This declaration was made during a grand reception organized by the Rainbow Coalition in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Wike reminisced about the support he received from the Ikwerre community during his 2015 governorship campaign, noting their significant backing despite the incumbent governor being from the same area. He defined political brotherhood as being based on care for the people's welfare rather than blood relations, citing Tinubu's beneficial appointments, including Prof. Okechukwu Onuchukwu as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt and the establishment of the University of Environment and Technology, Ogoni.

Wike compared the federal appointments received by Rivers State under various administrations since 1999, asserting that Tinubu's administration has provided greater representation. He pledged that the Rainbow Coalition and his supporters would mobilize for Tinubu in 2027.
