Wike Calls for Development Focus from Professional Bodies

On Tuesday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, urged professional bodies to redirect their focus towards tangible development instead of persistently criticizing the government. Wike made these remarks in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the Body of Benchers, led by its Chairman, Albert Akpomudj.

He highlighted the need for professional associations to identify challenges within their sectors and collaborate with the government to address them. Wike acknowledged ongoing infrastructure projects, including the near completion of the Body of Benchers' annex building and access roads around the Nigerian Law School.

He warned against unproductive commentary from professional groups, asserting that constructive criticism should not undermine government efforts. Akpomudj praised the Federal Capital Territory Administration for its infrastructure development, particularly projects benefiting the legal sector, and emphasized the importance of cooperation among the executive, legislature, and judiciary to strengthen democratic institutions and improve access to justice across Nigeria.
