Wike Urges Professional Bodies to Drive Development

On Tuesday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, called on professional bodies to concentrate on issues that would attract development. He made this statement during a courtesy visit from the Body of Benchers, led by its Chairman, Albert Akpomudji, at the Minister's official residence in Abuja.

Wike criticized those who frequently appear on television to criticize government leadership, stating that such actions do not contribute to the legacy of a leader. He urged the Body of Benchers to demonstrate exemplary leadership and seek government intervention to improve infrastructure for the legal profession.

Wike noted that the current administration is nearing completion of the annex building for the Body of Benchers and has made significant progress on access roads around the Nigerian Law School and the EFCC Academy. Akpomudji commended the FCT administration for its infrastructural transformation, highlighting the importance of collaboration among the executive, legislature, and judiciary to strengthen democratic institutions and improve access to justice in Nigeria.
