Wike vindicated over PDP zoning Presidency to South, Chairman to North — Olayinka

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) has reaffirmed the zoning of the presidency to the South and the National Chairman position to the North, in a move that has been described as a vindication of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike's stance. Senior Special Assistant to the Minister, Lere Olayinka, emphasized that the decision to retain the presidency in the South and the National Chairman in the North was a correction of a previous mistake made in 2022.

The NEC's resolution comes after the party's electoral misfortunes in 2023 and aims to ensure stability in the upcoming elections. The party has now zoned the 2027 Presidential ticket to the South, with plans to return it to the North in 2031.

Wike has emphasized the importance of correcting past mistakes and ensuring a fair distribution of power within the party.
