Nyesom Wike Vows to Protect PDP, Monitors Oyo Politics Amid Internal Disputes

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has pledged to safeguard the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from internal conflicts and external adversaries. Speaking at the 105th meeting of the PDP's National Executive Committee in Abuja, Wike stressed the importance of ensuring the party's survival and success, particularly in Oyo State.

He highlighted the need for unity, stability, and progress within the PDP across the country, urging members to focus on grassroots mobilization and resist attempts by "vampires" to hijack the party's structure. Wike also addressed ongoing legal issues within the party, emphasizing the significance of a caretaker committee to guide future elections and conventions.

The PDP is set to hold its national convention on March 28-29, 2026, following a court ruling nullifying a previous convention and affirming the current caretaker committee's leadership.
