Governor Wike Monitors Oyo PDP Amid Factional Disputes

Governor Wike expressed his close monitoring of developments within the Oyo State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during the party's 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja. His remarks come in light of concerns over the party's strength and survival, particularly after recent judicial victories in factional disputes.

The power tussle within the Oyo PDP escalated following the nullification of a parallel national convention held in November 2025 by a Federal High Court in Ibadan. This decision invalidated the convention organized by a faction loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

In response, a caretaker committee was established by the Makinde-Bala faction, leading to increased tensions within the state party structure.
