Kebbi Governor Urges Military to Eradicate Bandits

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has called on the Nigerian military to eradicate bandits threatening the safety of lives and property in the state. During an unscheduled visit to troops at their camp in Yauri, he commended the soldiers for their gallantry and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies.

Governor Idris stated that security is a collective responsibility and urged state governments to actively support the federal government in securing vulnerable communities, enabling farmers to return to their farms. He expressed confidence in the military's professional ability, citing their successful peacekeeping operations globally.

The governor thanked the Chief of Army Staff for deploying additional military units to Kebbi, which he noted had responded to the state government's request for increased military presence in affected areas. He highlighted that the Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski axis is facing incursions by bandits from neighboring states, including Niger, Zamfara, and Kwara.
