Governor Idris Calls for Action Against Bandits in Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has urged the newly deployed Nigerian Army troops to intensify their operations against bandits and criminal elements threatening communities in the Yauri axis. The Army's deployment aims to strengthen ongoing operations against banditry in Yauri, Shanga, Ngaski, and surrounding areas.

During an inspection of the troops on Friday, Idris commended the Chief of Army Staff for addressing the state's security needs. He described the troop reinforcement as timely and strategic, crucial for restoring peace and protecting residents.

The Yauri axis is a significant security concern due to its proximity to Niger and Zamfara states, with Fakai Local Government Area bordering Sokoto State and Kebbi sharing an international border with the Republic of Benin. Idris called on the troops to pursue bandits to enable displaced farmers to return to their farmlands safely.

He assured the troops of the state government's support and emphasized the importance of collaboration between federal and state authorities in tackling insecurity.
