NEPC to Grant Women Entrepreneurs $5,000 to $30,000
The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) announced that Nigerian women entrepreneurs will soon have the opportunity to access grants between $5,000 and $30,000. This initiative is supported by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Trade Center (ITC) to bolster women's businesses in digital trade.
Nony Ayeni, the Executive Director and CEO of NEPC, made this disclosure during the Women Export Conference held in Abuja on Tuesday. She highlighted that women-led businesses, which constitute 40% of SMEs in Nigeria, significantly contribute to the economy through job creation and enterprise development across various sectors, including agriculture and services.
The initiative includes a $50 million fund launched by the WTO and ITC to support women in digital trade. NEPC will select four business support organizations globally to implement this phase, with 67,000 women applying in Nigeria alone.
Out of these, 146 women will receive personalized coaching, mentorship, and grant support.
