Omawumi Discusses Transactional Nature of Modern Love

In a recent interview with Puls, Nigerian singer Omawumi Boma Megbel Yussuf, popularly known as Omawumi, expressed her belief that love has become transactional in contemporary relationships. She noted that societal pressures and inflation have influenced this perception, stating that impressing a woman now comes at a higher cost, citing examples like ice cream and popcorn.

Omawumi emphasized that while the transactional nature of relationships is often highlighted, the reciprocal nature of women’s contributions is sometimes overlooked. Additionally, she addressed rumors regarding her past relationship with the late rapper Dagrin, clarifying that they had a cordial friendship and often hung out when he was alive.

She also confirmed her romantic involvement with the late producer Dokta Frabz, with whom she collaborated on the hit song "Thank God" released in 2009.
