Efe Sodje Blames NFF for Nigeria's World Cup Failure

Efe Sodje, a former defender for the Super Eagles, explained the reasons behind Nigeria's failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He stated that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is to blame for the disappointing outcome, citing poor management and structural decisions as significant factors.

Nigeria's qualification campaign concluded with a defeat in a penalty shootout against the Democratic Republic of Congo, which ultimately prevented the team from securing a spot in the World Cup. Sodje emphasized that the issues extend beyond the players on the field, indicating that the decisions made by those in leadership positions within the NFF played a crucial role in the team's failure.

Looking ahead, he noted that Nigeria will focus on qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) later this year.
