FIFA VP Addresses Security Concerns for World Cup

On Wednesday, FIFA vice-president Victor Montagliani commented on the exaggerated concerns surrounding the security and political issues related to the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Montagliani stated that these worries will be forgotten once the tournament kicks off on June 11.

He highlighted that geopolitical issues have always been present in previous World Cups, referencing past events such as the 1978 World Cup during Argentina's military dictatorship. Montagliani, who heads CONCACAF, noted that the current concerns, including U.S.

President Donald Trump's immigration policies and gang violence in Mexico, are not new. He assured that FIFA's main goal is to ensure top-notch security for fans, and emphasized that once the games begin, people will focus on enjoying the football.

Montagliani also mentioned FIFA President Gianni Infantino's close relationship with Trump, which includes Infantino attending a Gaza peace summit and awarding Trump the newly created FIFA Peace Prize.
