King Oyo of Tooro Kingdom Dies at Age 34

King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, recognized as the world's youngest reigning monarch, passed away at the age of 34. His death was announced by Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, the Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, on Thursday night.

King Oyo ascended the throne at just three years old in 1995 after the death of his father, King Patrick Kaboyo Olimi III. He was receiving medical treatment in the United States at the time of his death, which occurred around 10 PM local time.

Reports indicated that he had been critically ill, although the specific cause of death has not been disclosed. King Oyo's reign was marked by his significant cultural influence, and he was formally crowned in April 2010 during a ceremony attended by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

The Tooro Kingdom, located in western Uganda, has a population of over two million people and is a vital institution for the Batooro people, preserving their culture and traditions.
