King Oyo of Tooro Kingdom Passes Away at 10 PM

Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the King of the Tooro Kingdom, died on Thursday at approximately 10:00 p.m. The Royal Family confirmed his passing, calling the loss "immeasurable" for the throne, the Tooro Kingdom, and Uganda.

King Oyo ascended to the throne at the age of three following the death of his father, Omukama Patrick Matthew Kaboyo Olimi III, making him one of the youngest monarchs in history. Over his more than two-decade reign, he became a prominent traditional leader and a symbol of cultural identity for the kingdom.

The Royal Family has urged subjects to remain united, peaceful, and prayerful during this mourning period. They announced that a prince will succeed him, although the identity of the heir will be disclosed later in accordance with Tooro traditions.

Funeral arrangements and a formal mourning schedule have yet to be released, with a more detailed statement expected from the Royal Family.
