NWF President Adeniyi Approves Team Nigeria's Training Camp

Akuh Purity, the Chairman of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) and head coach of the women’s team, commended NWF President Bashir Adewale Adeniyi for approving closed-door camping for Team Nigeria in preparation for the 2026 World Wrestling Championships. The championships are scheduled to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from October 24 to November 1, 2026.

Purity emphasized that the decision reflects the board's commitment to thorough preparation for international competitions. The training camp will be held at two locations in Bayelsa and Ondo States, allowing wrestlers to enhance their training and focus on technical and tactical skills.

Purity highlighted the importance of adequate preparation at the elite level, stating that the camp will bolster the athletes' physical, technical, and mental readiness. He also acknowledged the support extended to foreign-based wrestlers, which showcases Adeniyi’s inclusive leadership approach.

Team Nigeria is set to compete across various weight categories at the world championships.
