Nigeria Evacuates 250 Citizens from South Africa Amid Xenophobia

The Federal Government of Nigeria has welcomed the return of 250 Nigerian citizens from South Africa, who were evacuated due to recent xenophobic attacks. The returnees arrived safely at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos aboard a flight operated by Air Peace.

Sola Enikanolaiye, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, assured that the federal government is committed to the welfare, rehabilitation, and resettlement of the returnees. This evacuation exercise is part of the government's efforts to protect its citizens affected by xenophobic violence and to ensure their safe return home.

Government officials stated that necessary support measures are being put in place to assist the returnees in reintegrating into society, reaffirming Nigeria's commitment to protecting its citizens abroad.
