Ghana to Evacuate Citizens Amid South Africa Attacks

Ghana is set to evacuate its citizens from South Africa in response to escalating xenophobic attacks against foreigners. Ghana's Foreign Minister, Samuel Ablakwa, announced that the government is intensifying efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens amid protests against illegal immigration in South Africa.

The South African authorities have condemned the violence and pledged to crack down on xenophobic attacks. Videos of violent incidents have circulated on social media, prompting the Ghanaian government to take action.

The Ghana High Commission is assisting in the registration of citizens wishing to return home. Additionally, Ghana has advised its citizens in South Africa, as well as those in other African countries like Kenya, Malawi, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe, to exercise caution and stay indoors.

At least 130 Ghanaian citizens have requested to be flown back to Ghana due to the ongoing unrest.
