Protests Erupt in Ghana Demanding Closure of SA Firms

Protests occurred in Accra, Ghana, where demonstrators rallied under the banner "South Africa Must Go," demanding the closure of South African companies in the country. This unrest was sparked by deadly xenophobic attacks against Ghanaian residents in South Africa, which heightened tensions between the two nations.

A viral video captured the protests, showing demonstrators carrying placards with slogans such as "Ghanaian Lives Matter." The protests converged on the premises of South African companies. In response to the escalating situation, Ghana and other African countries, including Nigeria, began evacuating their citizens from South Africa.

The first batch of Nigerian returnees arrived in Nigeria on Thursday, receiving a warm welcome from government officials, including Sola Enikanolaiye, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
