XLCreativeHub Launches Screenwriting Competition 2023

XLCreativeHub has announced the opening of entries for its screenwriting competition and residency, aimed at supporting Nigerian storytellers and filmmakers. Creators are invited to submit synopses of original feature-length film scripts by March 16.

The judging process will occur from March 17 to March 20, with six finalists announced on March 20 during a live-streamed event on XLCreativeHub's YouTube channel. The judging panel includes Halima Odiegwu, Emil Guruba, and Kehind Joseph.

The selected finalists will participate in a screenwriting residency in Abuja from March 22 to March 28, where they will receive mentorship and support to develop their scripts. A trailer for each finalist's script will be produced, and the public will vote for their favorite from March 28 to April 6.

The overall winner will be announced on April 7, 2026, and will receive a film production deal along with a share of royalties.
