Court to Rule on EFCC Documents in Yahaya Bello Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, has set March 9 for a ruling regarding the admissibility of documents sought to be tendered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the ongoing trial of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, who is facing money laundering charges. During the proceedings, Bello's counsel, Joseph Daudu SAN, opposed the admissibility of certain documents, arguing that they were not properly examined in court.

The prosecution presented witnesses, including Mahmoud Abdulazeez and Gabriel Ochoch, who testified about financial transactions linked to Bello. Ochoch confirmed that the documents did not directly link Bello to the transactions in question.

The court also heard arguments regarding the admissibility of a deed assignment related to a property in Abuja, with the defense contending that the prosecution's evidence lacked proper foundation. The session was adjourned until March 9 for further deliberation on the admissibility of the documents.
