Yar'Adua Advocates for Stronger Civil-Military Relations

On Monday, during the Nigerian Army's 163rd anniversary celebration in Port Harcourt, Abdulaziz Musa Yar'Adua, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, advocated for stronger civil-military relations in Nigeria. He highlighted that the Nigerian Army has been a pillar of stability and has made significant sacrifices to defend the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Yar'Adua noted that this year's celebration reflects the theme of protecting the nation and serving the people. He emphasized the evolving relationship between the military and society, stating that national security cannot be achieved solely through military capability but requires the confidence and cooperation of the civilian population.

He paid tribute to troops deployed in the North West and North East, acknowledging their sacrifices in the fight against banditry and terrorism, and honored fallen heroes while wishing a quick recovery to those wounded in action.
