Yobe APC Aspirant Geidam Withdraws; Direct Primaries Ahead

Alhaji Lawan Geidam has officially withdrawn from the Yobe APC governorship race, as confirmed during a meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja. The meeting involved several aspirants, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Ibrahim Bomai, Mustapha Maihaja, Bashir Machina, and former Inspector General of Police Usman Baba.

This group, referred to as G-6, discussed strategies to resolve tensions surrounding the APC governorship primary process ahead of the 2027 elections. They unanimously resolved to fully participate in the upcoming governorship primaries, adhering to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and APC guidelines for direct primaries.

The G-6 commended Vice President Shettima for his efforts in promoting unity and stability within the party in Yobe State. They called on stakeholders and residents to maintain peace as the primaries approach, scheduled for May 23, 2026.

The group pledged support for whoever emerges from the primaries, ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process.
