Yobe Deputy Governor Praises Peaceful Local Government Election

Yobe State Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana commended the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission for successfully conducting a peaceful local government election. Gubana made his remarks on Saturday after voting at Polling Unit 008 in Dogon Kuka Ward, Fune Local Government Area.

He expressed satisfaction with the voter turnout, interpreting it as a positive sign of citizens' acceptance of democracy. Gubana stated, “This is an indication that democracy has come to stay, and is accepted as the best form of government.” He also highlighted the importance of voter education and sensitization to promote a more robust democratic process in the future.

Accompanying him were the Special Adviser to Governor Mai Mala Buni on Security Matters, retired Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam, and the All Progressives Congress chairman in Fune Local Government Area, Yusuf Sinkin. The election was reported to be largely peaceful across the state’s 17 local government areas, with adequate electoral materials dispatched to polling units, according to Dr. Ibrahim Yabani, Chairman of the SIEC.
