Yobe Hisbah destroys alcohol, arraigns suspected prostitutes

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission recently conducted a major operation in Garin Alkali town and Walawa community, Gashua Local Government Area, where they destroyed a large quantity of confiscated alcoholic drinks and arraigned suspected prostitutes and alcohol offenders in court. The exercise, which took place on August 19, also involved burning the alcoholic beverages seized in Bursari Local Government Area.

The Chairman of the Commission, Yagida Abubakar, stated that the operation was carried out in line with the Hisbah mandate to enforce the sanctity of Sharia law in Yobe State, where alcohol consumption and prostitution are considered heinous acts prohibited in Islam. The suspects arrested during the raid were arraigned in a Sharia court in Gashua for prosecution, as part of the Commission's ongoing duty to uphold Sharia moral values in the state.
