Kagu's Supporters Buy Nomination Forms for 2027 Reps Bid

Supporters of Professor Abubakar Bukar Kagu have purchased nomination forms for his candidacy in the 2027 House of Representatives election. The focus is on zoning and the principle of rotational representation among the four local government areas—Nguru, Machina, Yusufari, and Karasuwa—within the constituency.

Currently, Yusufari holds the position, and stakeholders argue that fairness and equity demand that the next representative come from Machina, Kagu's home base. Kagu's supporters assert that his strong credentials, including his tenure as the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board, where he launched a program awarding 371 foreign scholarships and supporting 700 law graduates, bolster his candidacy.

The argument for zoning is seen as more significant than individual merit, with local government areas rallying behind Kagu to unify the constituency and appeal to a broader voter base in the upcoming election.
