MURIC Accuses FG of Favoring Christians Over Muslims

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), under the leadership of Professor Ishaq Akintola, has publicly condemned the Nigerian Federal Government for what it perceives as preferential treatment towards Christians. This criticism arose after the government allocated N2 billion to victims of violence in Plateau State, while failing to provide comparable support to victims in predominantly Muslim states such as Borno, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kwara.

Akintola highlighted the disparity in treatment, questioning why Muslim victims were not similarly compensated. He pointed out that the N2 billion allocation was made without corresponding donations to Muslim victims, which he described as unfair and indicative of a broader pattern of discrimination.

Furthermore, he criticized the government's plans to construct a N25 billion ecumenical chapel at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, suggesting that it reflects a bias against Muslims. Akintola called for equal treatment and questioned the government's commitment to fairness in religious matters.
