Obidi Movement Critiques Oluremi Tinubu's Comments

The Obidi Movement responded strongly to comments made by Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, who suggested that university graduates might end up selling akara and roasted corn. Yunusa Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidi Movement, described her remarks as insensitive and discouraging, particularly during a time when millions of Nigerian youths are facing unemployment and economic hardship.

Tanko stated that the years spent in higher education should lead to better opportunities and a decent livelihood, rather than forcing graduates into survival jobs due to a lack of government support and poor economic planning. He argued that the real issue is not whether small businesses are honorable, but rather the failure of leadership to create an environment where graduates can fully apply their skills.

Tanko reiterated that Peter Obi's vision for Nigeria focuses on rebuilding the economy and improving education to ensure that academic achievements translate into real economic opportunities.
