Akpabio's Aide Defends State Police Bill Against Obi

Tijani Mustapha, the media aide to Senator Godswill Akpabio, criticized Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, for his comments regarding the State Police Bill. Obi had expressed concerns about the legislative process, describing it as hasty and lacking due procedure, which he argued could lead to political manipulation by state governors.

Mustapha countered that Obi clearly did not read the bill, which already includes provisions for establishing an independent state police service commission to address Obi's concerns. Mustapha emphasized that the bill aims to create a credible solution to Nigeria's security challenges and ensures that police services are accountable to the public rather than political interests.

He further questioned Obi's understanding of the bill's implications, suggesting a lack of mental capacity in his critique.
