Youngest Yoruba Monarch Balances University Life with Traditional Role, Emphasizes Education Importance

King Oloyede Adekoya Akinghar II of Okeluse, Ondo State, recently shared insights into his life as a university student during an interview with BBC Yoruba. Despite being one of the youngest monarchs in Yorubaland, he completed high school in 2022 and proceeded to pursue higher education.

King Oloyede revealed that he walks from his hostel to attend classes, highlighting his commitment to education. He also emphasized the need for youths to value relationships and gain diverse perspectives.

Additionally, the monarch's office issued a statement through Amb. Prince Adefemi Michael Olorunfemi, expressing displeasure over disrespectful addresses to the king.

The report also mentioned the suspension of the selection process for a new Awujale of Ijebuland, marking the second intervention by state authorities in the traditional stool succession process.
