‘Your Vote Is Your Voice’, Saraki Urges Youths To Embrace Voter Registration Opportunity

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki urged young people to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Saraki highlighted the importance of voting, noting that only 26% of the 94 million Nigerians eligible to vote in the 2023 elections were registered.

Despite nearly 40% of registered voters being between 18-34 years old, only 24 million actually cast their ballots. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that prospective voters can now register online and book appointments to complete the process in person.

The CVR exercise will run until August 25, 2025, with registration centers set up across the country. INEC emphasized the need for eligible citizens to register, as voter participation is crucial for a democratic process.

The commission also warned against multiple registrations, stating that violators would face penalties.
