Shettima Urges Akume to Reconcile with Alia for Unity

On Thursday, during the Renewed Hope Ambassador Summit held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima called on George Akume, a senior figure in public service and former governor, to reconcile with Hyacinth Alia, the current governor of Benue State. Shettima highlighted the importance of resolving differences to promote progress in the state, especially following reported tensions between Akume and Alia that had led to separate gatherings and divisions within the Progressive Congress in Benue State.

He warned that ongoing conflict could hinder development and affect the welfare of the people. Shettima emphasized that party members share a common goal of serving the state and urged Akume to take the first step towards restoring peace and stability by cooperating with Alia.

He noted Akume's extensive experience in various leadership roles, including serving as a senator and minister.
