Tinubu Urges Unity Amid Benue Political Rift

President Bola Tinubu addressed the political rift between Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and Senator George Akum, urging them to reconcile for the benefit of the state. During a summit on Tuesday, Tinubu appealed to Akum to extend an olive branch to Alia, emphasizing that Benue deserves peace and development.

He invoked the words of Martin Luther King Jr. to stress the importance of unity over division. The event also marked the 1,000th day of Tinubu's administration, where he noted that economic reforms are beginning to yield tangible results, including moderating inflation and stabilizing the naira.

Tinubu disclosed that the Central Bank of Nigeria intervened to stabilize the currency, which had recently reached N1,000 to $1. He also highlighted the administration's focus on a record N58.18 trillion budget for 2026, aimed at enhancing national security and public finance transparency.
