Federal Government to Host National Youth Confab in 2026

The Federal Government announced the convening of the National Youth Confab in October 2026, as stated by Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande during a session at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. This initiative, first pledged by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his October 2024 Independence Day broadcast, aims to involve young Nigerians in national discussions and solution development.

The confab will last two weeks, starting with virtual consultations followed by a physical conference in Abuja, gathering one delegate from each of the 360 federal constituencies and six diaspora delegates. The theme is "Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future," emphasizing actionable outcomes rather than mere discussions.

Olawande addressed concerns about the confab's effectiveness, referencing the 2014 National Conference and outlining a structural plan to ensure recommendations are distributed across all three arms of government.
