Nigeria's Youth: The Nation's Greatest Asset, Says Faleye

During a speech as the guest speaker at the Student Mentorship Summit 2006 organized by the National Association of Nigerian Students in Abuja, Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), stated that Nigeria's greatest asset is its youth, rather than its mineral resources or infrastructure. He highlighted the need for nurturing and supporting young people to achieve their full potential.

Faleye argued that it is not sufficient to merely equip youth with skills; they also require guidance and support to protect their journey towards shaping Nigeria's future. He stressed the importance of empowering youth to become leaders across various sectors, encouraging them to be job creators instead of just job seekers.

Faleye also mentioned the necessity of changing the mindset of youth towards self-reliance and innovation to solve real-world problems. He concluded by emphasizing the role of the NSITF in providing social security strategies to enable a resilient workforce for national development.
