Nigerian Youth: Key Asset for National Development

During the Student Mentorship Summit 2026 held in Abuja, Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), described Nigerian youth as the country's greatest asset, surpassing even natural resources. He highlighted the need for guidance and support to help youth achieve their full potential.

Faleye argued that empowerment with the right tools and skills is essential for national progress, urging a shift in mindset from entitlement to self-reliance. He emphasized the importance of inspiring youth to become job creators rather than mere job seekers and to drive innovation in various sectors.

Faleye reiterated NSITF's commitment to expanding social protection coverage and ensuring workplace safety, advocating for a proactive multi-sector approach to youth development. The summit, convened by Samson Ajasa, aimed to bridge the gap in opportunities for Nigerian youth and was a follow-up to a successful event held at Olabisi Onabanjo University in October 2022.
