Yusuf Plans Second Term Bid After NNPP Defection

Kano State Governor Yusuf has dismissed the 'one-term' slogan that has circulated online, indicating his intention to seek a second term under the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a video addressing the issue, he explained that the chant suggesting he would serve only one term was interpreted in a different context.

Yusuf recently defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC, a move he described as being in the best interest of the people of Kano State. This decision follows a prolonged political crisis involving former ally Rabiu Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Yusuf formally resigned from the NNPP, citing deepening internal crises and prolonged leadership disputes. His political maneuvers are part of a broader realignment in Kano's political landscape as the state approaches the 2027 general elections.
