Zamfara APC expresses fear over alleged use of armed groups in bye-election

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concerns over the alleged use of illegal armed groups, known as Yansakai, in the upcoming Kaura Namoda South State House Assembly bye-election on August 16, 2025. The APC spokesperson, Yusuf Idris, expressed fear that these armed volunteers may be used to manipulate the election process in favor of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC also highlighted the safety of voters as a major concern, warning that the situation could escalate if the PDP attempts to forcefully ensure their candidate's victory. In response, the PDP dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused the APC of making false claims out of desperation to win the poll.

Authorities have been urged to intervene swiftly to prevent any unrest and ensure a fair electoral process.
