Bye-election: Zamfara APC warns gov Lawal against use of political thugs

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a warning to Governor Dauda Lawal against the alleged use of political thugs in the upcoming bye-election. The APC accused the governor of planning to deploy political thugs to influence the State House Assembly South Constituency election.

The party's Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, claimed that the governor intended to use the outlawed Yansakai vigilante group to intimidate voters in favor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The APC has petitioned security agencies to ensure that the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are deployed to oversee the poll.

In response, the governor's Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Mustafa Jafaru, denied the allegations, stating that political thuggery is banned in the state.
